Luxury Ski Chalets

If you are looking for something special for the New Year ski holidays, then there are certain ski resorts that are probably going to hit the top of the list for a special luxury holiday. Zermaat for us is our favourite, although this is closely followed by Val d Isere, Courchevel, Verbier and Chamonix. In our younger days we would have probably added St Anton in there but as we approach mid-life we'll leave that for the younger skiers who are able to spend the New Year skiing without sleep!

Ski New Year

Demand generally for the 2011 ski season appears high as despite the Euro zone issues, and yesterdays tough budget, skiers are slowly gaining faith regarding the economy and their own financial situation. It would of course be wrong to suggest the ski industry is out of the worst, but early signs are extremely positive.

It has to be said however that the New Year ski holidays were without question the one week that didn't seem to be affected by the downturn, followed closely by the half term ski week. With demand generally on the up this looks set to continue this year and whilst June and July are generally quiet on the booking front, operators are expecting a brisk business in sales during August and September as skiers capture the last remaining chalets.

Skiers looking for last minute New Year ski deals are however warned that they are unlikely to find much, if anything out there as this is certainly one week at least where prices rise as you get closer to New Year as demand always outstrips supply.

Family Chalet

Predominantly the New Ski week is seen as a chance to leave Granny's dining table and get away with friends, girlfriends and anyone else up to party the New Year away in some swanky ski resort. But nevertheless there is still a large proportion of skier that are family ski holiday makers and therefore a new site that is like to launch called Family Chalets may be of interest as it will only feature what it says, Family Chalets!!

Ski Christmas - Ski New Year - Ski Half Term - Ski Easter - Peak Ski Weeks

With the exception of the Easter ski week, and even these weeks are receiving some interest, bookings are already strong for the Ski Christmas, New year ski, and half term skiing weeks. Typically the New Year skiing holiday is the first to go but this year the half term skiing week seems particularly busy early on.

With such high demand for these peak weeks, its never too early to secure the booking as with demand high, often exceeding ski chalet availability, there won't be very many ski deals, if at all, for these weeks, and why be left with second best, or even the dregs!

New Year Ski

As the lighter nights start to arrive, thinking about a New Year ski holiday might seem a little strange, but with demand far outstripping supply, even in the current economic climate, this is one week to get you skates, sorry, skis on for!

The favourite destinations are always the high altitude snow sure resorts that have extensive skiing as well to minimise lift queue and congestion on the slopes. Therefore expect the resorts of Chamonix, Courchevel, Meribel, St Anton, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Val Thorens and Zermatt to sell out first.  But the others won't be far behind, such as the Portes du Soleil which is a popular family ski retreat during the New Year school holidays.

Ski In Ski Out

if you are looking to book a great New Year skiing holiday, could it get any better than a true ski in ski out chalet? A true ski in ski out chalet in my opinion is one that is set next to the ski slope and not one where you have to ski through gardens, jump of hedges, and cross icy roads where your skis get shredded by the salty gravel!

As such you'll ski in ski out accommodation will enable you to put on your skis at the door, join the piste, and enjoy the New Year ski holiday without having to walk down slippery paths or get on uncomfortable buses, skiing back at the end of the day, right to the door.

Two companies stick out as great ski in ski out operators in terms of meeting the definition, the first is Ski In Ski Out who only provide slope side properties, and the second is Chamonix Exclusive who have an outstanding luxury catered chalet right on the piste.
